E KOMO MAI SPORT HORSES is a specialty equestrian center which promotes
Interactive Horsemanship, a whole horse/whole rider approach to equine sciences. Our goal is understanding the nature of
the horse, and its role and needs in todays world. We strive to help owners create a fruitful and functional relationship
with their equine companions, so that horse and human can interact safely and successfully in whatever venue they wish to pursue.
We incorporate round pen work and equine behavior and psychology principles into our training. Our participants learn horse health
care, stable management, horse behavior and psychology, care and maintenance of tack, handling horses of all ages in varying
situations, developing riding skills and advancement in various competitive fields. Many of our riders cultivate an interest
in Dressage and Eventing, while still building on the basis of a well-rounded horse and rider combination
The primary instructor at E Komo Mai Sport Horses is Nancy Steinecke, who
has been instructing and training for more than 30 years. Nancy holds a degree in Modern Languages from the University of Texas
at Arlington, with graduate studies from the University of Hawai'i Manoa and she taught in those disciplines at Middle School,
High School, and University levels before turning to a full-time profession in Equine Sciences
Nancy is a Licensed Judge and Technical Delegate with USA Equestrian,
the United States National Equestrian Federation, in the fields of Dressage and Eventing. Nancy is also Certified by The American
Riding Instructors Association (ARIA). As time and schedules permit, Nancy travels away from Hawai'i to give clinics and
to judge
The facilitator of the E Komo Mai program is Trey Pierce, Nancy's husband, an
alumnus of the noted native Hawaiian educational institution, Kamehameha Schools. Trey coordinates the many activities, the
office records and the logistics of facility maintenance, all while treating ranch patrons to wonderful gourmet meals, impromptu
guitar concerts, the occasional appearance on a horse to stick-and-ball and a hefty dose of humor
